Observer writers we like/can tolerate

We're not all negativity here at CATJ. We like some of the Observer writers. In the interest of playing nice we'll name a few.

Langston Wertz - Seems like a nice guy, and normally knows what he's talking about. An increasingly rare circumstance at the Charlotte Observer.

Mark Washburn - I generally agree with most of what Mr. Washburn has to say, knows shit when he sees it and he manages to stay away from the tabloid aspect of the media, which I can appreciate.

Lawrence Toppman - Pound for pound, The Observer's best columnist - by a longshot. Naturally, I don't agree with alot of his reviews, but Toppman is intelligent, well read, and informed.

Doug Smith - an actual local guy! Old enough to remember what it was like to be a journalist, before Paris Hilton, before the "blogosphere" and when you actually had to have something called a "source" to back up facts you put in print. I bet he'd be fun to have a beer with.
